Automobiles in German City Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Authorities stated they were contacted by a individual who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then found multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for information.

A senior official said the incident made him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
